Knarly Knob has emerged as a real star this year. Firing out releases at a great rate of knots he has also started his own esteemed label of the same name. Now it is back with a fifth fine EP featuring two originals and a remix from CLiVE.
Up first is Remeo, a deep and atmospheric cut with tambourines tinkling along next tot he beats. Mysterious pads bring more mood and the whole thing is nice and moody from start to finish. Digital Traffik’s producer and A&R CliVE remixes this one into a more driving and late night cut with silky smooth drums and slinky synths. The percussion is well designed and helps oil the grove to really carry you away. Last of all Insula is a totally different proposition that is slow, deep and hymnal. Chords are full of mood and fizzing textures help give this an authentic feel. It finally forms a drum groove later on and drifts off into the cosmos. All in all a fine offering
