40 Pictures That Perfectly Capture The ’90s Raves

These are moments from 90s raves like you never seen before!

A new limited-edition photography book, titled Mydriasis, aims to document the international techno rave scene. Mydriasis—the name is the medical term for pupil dilation that’s usually related to trauma, disease or drug use—is the result of a collaboration between Parisian visual artist Irwin Barbé and Lyon graphic design studio Local Service, along with some 40 photographers from around the world. It’s been in the works for two years.

Along with hundreds of photos arranged to portray “the different intensities, sensations and emotions” experienced during a night of partying, we’re told the book will feature bits of writing that “oscillate between fact and fiction, and emphasize the psychological and emotional questions that emanate from the pictures.”
