The small, intimate yet international festival dedicated to artistic experimentation and environmental sustainability, held in the woodlands of Villa Arconati just outside of Milan, June 23,24,25 now announces its final 5 acts, a tasteful and comprehensive look at todays electronic music landscape involving women on one-third of the bill. The festival is brought to you by the cultural association Threes.
The new acts announced include:
The singer Stine Janvin performing together with duo N.M.O., who recently released an album on Diagonal and an EP on Vinyl Factory, will be opening the festival on Friday at 9pm, a etherial performance in the Villa’s restored labyrinth; Ron Morelli, head of the established L.I.E.S. imprint will play a set blending house and punk closing the festival program on Saturday; the Canadian cellist Julia Kent will deliver a cinematic and evocative live performance; KAFR (Rabih Beaini aka Morphosis, label head of Morphine Records and Senyawa the Indonesian duo comprised of Rully Shabara and Wukir Suryadi) will perform together combining synth, vocals and tradition Indonesian instruments; the Rome-based Rawmance is back at Terraforma with a special daytime set….
The all-embracing schedule of Terraforma always avoids overlap so guests can enjoy the entire program. From the restored labyrinth to main stage constructed out of wood, now this year Terraforma, who brought the Japanese Killasan Sound System to debut in Italy for two events in Rome and Milan to preview the festival, now announces the use of Tropic Disco Sound, an incredible audio system built in Jamaica, will make an appearance with various sets hosted on this system, including Tropic Disco Sound System, John Swing feat. David Soliel-Mon, Paquita Gordon & Ece Duzgit, the bass legend Mala and Rashad Becker.

The English producer, acclaimed from his work with Primal Scream, Andrew Weatherall, will deliver his monthly set, Music’s Not For Everyone for NTS, at Terraforma; the American pioneer of electronic music and acclaimed pianist and producer, Suzanne Ciani; Arpanet, electronic project of Gerald Donald of Drexciya and Dopplereffekt from Detroit; the master of ambient music and author of “Ambient 3: Day of Radiance” (produced by Brian Eno), Laraaji, will combine his performance with a workshop; co-owner of Kompakt, Wolfgang Voigt who presents after 17-years a new album live a/v set under his GAS project combining minimalism and romanticism, connecting the music to the surrounding natural environment; Donato Dozzy, who has been performing at the festival every year under different collaborations, this year he will deliver a special ambient set Saturday morning, a perfect way to start the day; pioneer of the English dubstep scene Mala, also known as Digital Mystikz, who connects people from all over the world, from Cuba to Peru, with low frequencies; the Brooklyn-based musician and visual artist, Aurora Halal with her dreamy, futuristic techno; the Berlin-based sound and mastering guru Rashad Becker, the author behind Traditional Music of Notional Species on Bill Kouligas’ PAN imprint. Objekt, will play a techno set on the river, closing the festival program for the first night; Dynamo Dreesen and Sven Rieger will preform together as Dreesvn; Roman producer L.U.C.A., master of the mixtape who ranges from traditional Italian soundtracks to Library music; the singer Kiki Hitomi (part of King Midas Sound, who has been collaborating with The Bug) will perform with vocals and electronics combining reggae and Japanese pop from the 50’s; and the resident Paquita Gordon will preform a b2b set together with talented female Turkish producer Ece Duzgit..
Aside from the extensive music program, Terraforma’s schedule includes workshops and talks, children’s area, food court, camping area and pop-up hotel:
On Friday, a workshop by Laraaji on yoga and laughter meditation. On Saturday, a lecture from RBMA’s Hanna Bächer and Suzanne Ciani and two talks by Berlin Community Radio in the afternoon. As well as visual installations in the woodlands throughout the festival.
Recreation for children will include a playground and designed and built by Parasite 2.0 and ATZ together with activities and workshops on Saturday and Sunday in the children’s area.
Pop-up Hotel:
Aside from the camping area, this year Terraforma partners up with The Pop-up Hotel a service hosted at famous English festivals like Glastonbury, now comes to Italy for the first time! Sustainability:
As Terraforma is focused on sustainability, dining options include largely organic products as well as their ongoing project to reclaim the Villa Arconati by restoring the structure as well as the grounds labyrinth. In the first year the labyrinth was reconstructed by a path of lights, in the following years the festival’s association began to restore it to its natural state of greenery. In addition this years edition is focused on reducing waste, increasing recycling, providing disposable ashtrays to guests and also powering the campsite with solar energy!
