Interview: The Organism

Ukrainian Artist The Organism is back with a superb new album “Dictator” on his own label Organic Tunes. The seven-track collection shows off his rich array of house styles in fine fashion.

The Organism has roots in the scene that go back 20+ years. By now he is an international name with credits on influential labels like Disco Halal & Diynamic, has had high-profile support from the likes of Solomun, Dixon, and DJ Tennis, and has had several tracks in the high-end of the melodic charts on Beatport. This new album is a showcase of his hypnotic bass vibrations, exciting vocals, and mystic ethnic sounds.

We caught up with The Organism to talk about the making of his new LP “Dictator”, the ethos behind his sound, and more.

Hey! How are you? What’s good or bad in your world right now?

The good is music, the bad is war.

You have a “Dictator” LP coming up. Why did you want to do an LP? What inspired or influenced it?

The reason I decided to release the LP is to show more tracks in which I could convey more of the message. Music brings people together and manipulative politicians are pissing people off and making people fight. It’s my art protest and language to bring something light to people in these dark times.

Was there a plan for it from the start, did you know how you wanted it to sound? What was the aim generally with it?

I dedicated about four years to this album, and what I wanted from the sound I achieved, although many things were constantly changed or added, now I like everything, I hope my listeners do too.  Music and dance is the language of the spiritual world, that’s why I dance and sing.

How important was it for you to bring some ethnic sounds to the record? How did you do that?

The gypsy soul always asks for ethnics 🙂 Seriously speaking, I’m sticking to the concept of organic sound, like a live voice, or live instruments, sometimes it’s ethnic melodies, sometimes others. Also, my roots are Ukrainian.

Any key gear used in the making of – do care about that? Does it define your sound?

Definitely! First of all, it is an analog sound, second, live instruments, and thirdly mixing and mastering.

Is the LP a continuation of your usual style or have you switched it up?

I think so! No matter how you twist the synthesizer hands and ears are used to what is already good.

What’s next for you now the album is done?

Some more interesting remixes, and a video clip for Dictator. The release is scheduled for the beginning of 2023.
