It’s a pleasure to have you here with us Maxi Meraki. How have you been and where are you answering this interview from?

Hi all! Hope you guys are doing well? Currently I’m in Brussels, Belgium.

First things first, congratulations on the release of your latest single, ‘Dare Your Move’. What has the initial reception been like?

It’s a release I have been looking forward to. When I saw some of my favorite artists like Solomun, Adam Ten and Desiree
playing the track over from Ibiza to Burning Man I realized this track was different then what I’ve produced before.

Who or what were your biggest musical influences and inspiration growing up?

Watching old series of the 80’s and documentaries about the rise up of clubs and the disco sound made me realize this was something unique.

Later when I started going out seeing a dj behind the turntables enjoying himself and the crowd made me start thinking:

What should I do to create these same type of feelings and emotions with a crowd?

Can you tell us about the electronic music scene in Antwerp right now?

Last week I was watching the documentary ’those were the days’ ontelevision. Some years ago Belgium was a true pioneer when it came toclubs.

They were a trendsetter in lights, sounds, music,… from all over Europe they came to Belgium to dance for days and go from one club to another.

Nowadays we’re more know for our great festivals.

If you could collaborate with any artist in the scene right now, who would it be?

Since he supported and played my new track ‘Dare Your Move’ during his residencies in Ibiza at Destino and Pacha, over to Hungary and London I would say Solomun.

Top 3 favourite records you love to play at the moment?

‘Maxi Meraki – Dare Your Move’ (Sorry haha), ‘Notre Dame – Yumi’ and Andhim’s amazing track ’Nice To Meet You’.

Can you tell us about some of your favourite non-electronic music artists?

Now that’s a tricky question! I must say while I’m cooking or driving I can easily listen to more pop and disco tracks.

Some of my favorite artists over the years were Ryx, Post Malone and Drake to name a few.

What have you got planned for 2023?

A lot of new music is coming up; and hopefully more wonderful gigs! Very much looking forward to my follow-up EP

On Tensnake’s label True Romance Records.

Any final words for our Only Techno readers?

Never stop believing in yourself; always keep on pushing and ‘dare
your move’!
