When Sonny Kept a Secret: Inside Skrillex’s Cupra Pulse Takeover at Primavera Sound 2026

For months, the Saturday grid at Primavera Sound featured a massive, heavily guarded question mark. While the rest of the Parc del Fòrum lineup was parsed, the Cupra Pulse stage on June 6th remained a total blackout. Curated by Sonny Moore (Skrillex), the festival pulled off an old-school rave miracle: zero advance artist announcements. It wasn’t until Saturday that the veil of absolute secrecy was lifted, dropping a 12-hour timetable that read like a love letter to the underground.

The Narrative: From Slow-Burn to Global Club Subversion

By opting out of the standard festival hype machine, Skrillex let the curation do the talking. The day kicked off with the sharp, bass-heavy experimentalism of local selectors Azombike and Kollin, setting an intentional tone. The energy then pivoted violently to the Southern Hemisphere with the gritty, industrialized, and syncopated club rhythms of Brazil’s RHR.

Then Effie + Eurohead tore through a frantic, high-tempo live set heavily indebted to the futuristic, global club sounds. Amsterdam’s Tracey followed, anchoring the booth with her signature blend of crisp electro breaks and metallic techno textures, before passing the torch to DJ Bassan, who unleashed a high-energy masterclass of Baile Funk. The vibe shifted from dancefloor compliance to artistic anarchy when Arca took the stage, preparing the field for the raw, physical club energy of Nexus (B4mba + Mooki6).

The Midnight Convergence

The long lines to get into Cupra Pulse peaked as Four Tet took control, weaving his signature tapestries of organic euphoria. The energy hit a flashpoint when Sonny stepped up for an unannounced, explosive Four Tet b2b Skrillex set, after which he continued solo into a sprawling selector’s set that fluidly bridged the gap between cutting-edge UK bass weight and unreleased hard techno IDs. Blawan finished with a modular set that drove the remaining ravers straight through to the morning curfew.

The Verdict

In an industry saturated by predictable bookings, Skrillex proved that mystery is still the ultimate currency. The Cupra Pulse takeover wasn’t just a lineup; it was a beautifully curated narrative of where club culture stands right now.

We can’t wait to dance at the Cupra Pulse stage at Primavera Sound next year.
