Carl Cox’s classic track “Your Light Shines On” is getting two new versions by Pan-Pot and CHUS+CEBALLOS

Carl Cox is an industry figurehead who’s legacy in music includes his iconic label Intec, which he runs with friend and business partner Jon Rundell.

This latest offering from Intec features two new and previously unreleased remixes of Carl Cox’s classic track “Your Light Shines On”.

Your Light Shines On was originally released in 2016 as part of Intec’s landmark 100th release, and the two new heavyweight remixes are provided by Pan-Pot, plus Chus & Ceballos.

German duo Pan-Pot to most fans of the techno genre need little introduction having first made a name for themselves on Anja Schneider’s Mobilee, before starting their own successful label known as Second State.

Spanish collaborators Chus & Ceballos focus their sound more towards house music, and along with releases on their own label Stereo Productions, have also featured on imprints including Toolroom and Defected.

Carl Cox’s original version of “Your Light Shines On” has an underlying techno groove with tribal percussion plus Jamaican style steel drums, and each of the remix artists has focused on the elements most commonly associated with their genre in order to make the track their own.

Pan-Pot’s distinctly techno remix is dark and up-tempo with an atmospheric sound centred around tough percussion and rising pads. Distinctly different from the original, there is a subtle influence from the classic Detroit sound, and strips away any elements that could be considered house music.

Chus & Ceballos rework the track using a stripped back version of the original groove that focuses on the core percussion sounds. Thickening the sounds, their chunky remix is party house with a summery vibe, and uses the steel drums in order build towards an explosive crescendo in the main break.

Release Date is this Friday, 6 April.
