A collective nightclubs and the nightlife community in Berlin have announced plans for a protest rave to coincide with a far-right march, which could be one of Germany’s largest for the political party in recent years.
The counter-protest rave, set to take place on Sunday, May 27th, is being organized by a leftwing collective of Berlin-based clubs and parties called Reclaim Club Culture. It is one of many counter-protests that will sweep the city, with dozens of clubs and parties involved.
The protest rave will go down in the central borough of Mitte, where Reclaim Club Culture will set up soundsystems. Some of the venues involved include ://about blank, Prince Charles, OHM, Sisyphos and Tresor.
Speaking to RA, an anonymous source touched on the vision behind the protest rave: “We are not willing to tolerate the continuous pressure from the far right against simply everything the Berlin club scene is representing. So we invite everyone to crash their march on May 27 with a musical demonstration.”
This protest comes just a week after thousands took to the streets in Georgia to rave in protest of raids on nightclubs Bassiani and Café Gallery, which led to an investigation regarding police brutality.
