Up next in our interview series we have an exciting talent from Honolulu, Jordan Strong who is here to speak more about his brand new remix.
Hello Jordan, it’s great to be chatting to you today. Let’s start off with a personal question – what’s keeping you busy besides music right now?
My quest to surf warm waters and eat tropical fruits has led me through the Hawaiian Islands and into the lush jungle beaches of Costa Rica where I’m currently seaside sippin a cold pipa (aka raw cold cocconut) and enjoying a nice slice of guanabana while I navigate the domain of the digital nomad world.
As a prolific producer / label owner in the Electronic Music scene, how do you keep your enthusiasm when it comes to new music?
The people are what this is all about. For them I aspire to dig as deep and as for long as needed to find the newest music that even after the fifth or sixth listen it’s still resonating with my heart. Then I’m closer to finding the raw unique kind of timeless music I’m hoping to share. All we really have is our individuality to make us unique and authentically shine so please embrace and share your weirdness. We need to hear those cuts you’re almost embarrassed or unsure to share. Little pieces of my spark diminish when I fall upon the pigeon holed trendy sub genre cliches. The Tilluminati is real. I need your adventurous spirits to take us to the unknown realms and reach new heights. There we find true art and not simulacrum.
How is your local scene doing right now? What’s hot!?
A. As I currently reside in Costa Rica I have to say it’s an absolute adventure. I just got back from an excursion to one of the most beautiful locations on the planet where a new production group successfully threw their first annual Bliss Burn. I felt so honored to be a part of the very first as this has the potential to be something as special as can be. I’m also really looking forward to my move up to Santa Teresa where I’ll be doing my thing with another really well curated club called Pasion, and of course Ranchos Itauna is a legendary hotel beach party I’m proud to be involved with. People of the world really need to experience these places.
This remix you did, for Tony H, that is featured on the awesome new “Equinox Dreams V3 Compilation” by Uniting Souls Music… how did you approach it?
I was looking forward to reconnecting with Tony H and this project spoke to me, literally, the spoken word is powerful and right up my alley which is why I chose to remix it. I really enjoyed stripping it down and adding some exotic percussion and it also gave me a chance to break out my new Hydrasynth for the bass line and synth layers. I’m usually going for a sound that’s unique yet cohesive.
Do you enjoy remixing?
Yes
What can we look forward to in the near future from yourself / Uniting Souls?
Lot’s of good things in the pipes! I have another release on Doc Martin’s Sublevel label coming, an original with Hamza Rahimtula, a remix for Sean Dimitri’s label and a few releases lined up for Uniting Souls Music and my own Wave Machine Label! And I’ve been slowly brewing the launch of the legendary Flammable’s label! So yeah, lots to keep up with!
Who is inspiring you right now… anyone we should look out for?
Go to your personal friends and local events and pay to get in so they can keep throwing parties for you! More than half the time they’re just as good if not better than the headliners anyhow. Then follow them on Soundcloud & repost their events and releases.
Finally, can you tell us a strange fact about Jordan that our readers might not know?
My favorite new thing is plantain pancakes and seed oils… as processed foods, sauces etc, are making us all fat, sick and tired. Eat farm to table and organic.
