UMEK and Sam WOLFE are back on 1605 with a new collaborative techno track that erupts with stabbing melodies and driving percussion.
1605 is UMEK’s own record label, and he returns to his imprint following a recent release on Adam Beyer’s Drumcode. UMEK is one of techno’s most respected artists and he boasts an impressive back catalogue that stretches back to the ’90s, including releases on labels ranging from Carl Cox’s Intec to Reinier Zonneveld’s Filth On Acid.
Sam WOLFE is one of the artists leading techno’s next generation, and along with numerous releases on 1605, his music can also be found on other respected record labels including Christian Smith’s Tronic and Oliver Huntemann’s Senso Sounds.
This release follows up on UMEK and Sam WOLFE’s previous collaboration titled “Mind of One” which was the first time the two like-minded producers had teamed up in the studio. Following the chart-topping success of that release, the guys have once again proven themselves to be two of techno’s most consistent producers with this instant classic.
“Aktivate” is the solo track on this release and it’s got monstrous synth stabs and dramatic bursts of percussion, which is layered with vocal phrases that add to the track’s invigorating energy. Its stomping groove and dark atmosphere give it an unstoppable intensity that only grows stronger as the track unfolds.
