Michigan based vinyl and techno label (MS) release VA ‘The Replacements’

Hailing from Michigan, USA, vinyl and techno label (MS) is the creation of Myles Sergé that usually focuses on his own original cuts, but has also featured quality remixes from Lee Holman and Rennie Foster.

‘The Replacements’ is a new VA release with four tracks by four different artists from Argentina, France, and America.

Gonzalo MD is from Buenos Aires and has well over 10 years of releases that includes Philippe Petit’s Knotweed and Decision Making Theory (DMT), Marco Lenzi’s Molecular, Bruno Ledesma’s Concepto Hipnotico and Retórica Records. “Aura Nova” has a stomping groove at its core, while combining with sweeping, spacey textures and rubbery stabs he creates a mesmerising slice of contemporary techno.

Philippe Petit calls Chamonix home, and the French maestro heads up Knotweed Records and Decision Making Theory (DMT) and has also appeared on Ben Sims’ Symbolism, Len Faki’s Figure, Slam’s Soma, Radio Slave’s RSPX amongst others. “Strange Luck” adds a deep and soulful take to the EP, using delicate delays on the lead and a warm, throbbing bassline to guide this classic Detroit-influenced jam.

(MS) label boss Myles Sergé arrives on the third track in style following appearances on labels like Zenker Brothers’ Ilian Tape, Dan Curtin’s Metamorphic, Dense & Pika’s Kneaded Pains, and Esther Duijn’s Another Earth, to name only a few. Title track “The Replacements” is a gritty, analogue-focused record full of jackin’ claps and lashing hi-hats that is instantly infectious.

Mike Derer is another exciting and experienced addition to the release’s roster, with over 20 years of industry knowhow from running an artist agency, hosting events and of course beat-making, his music can be found on his own Northern Parallels imprint and also remixing for the likes of A.Paul’s Naked Lunch. “Pecatonica” is a beautiful journey through sound design with round, modular notes and morphing textures surrounded by skittering percussion elements that demand attention.
