Interviewer: Hey KASIA, thanks for speaking with us! Congratulations on your Truesoul debut! Tell us about the story behind this signing — how did you connect with Adam Beyer and end up on the label?

KASIA: Hi guys! Thank you for having me.

Earlier this year, in March, I released a track on Adam’s label, Drumcode, called “No Tomorrow.” Adam and I first connected about two years ago when we played together for Resistance Miami, and that’s how we met.

When I finished “Black Sun,” I felt it could be an excellent fit for Truesoul, so I sent it to Adam for his thoughts. He liked the track, asked if he could test it out and later got back to me saying he wanted to release it on Truesoul. And here we are!

Interviewer: The track’ Black Sun’ is a darkly massive melodic techno trip. Where did the inspiration come from for this cut?

KASIA: Black Sun is a track I spent quite a long time perfecting. I went through about 10 different versions before landing on the final one.

At first, I didn’t plan to release it. I just wanted something unique for my sets. I love playing harder, melodic sounds, but I often struggle to find that perfect mix between melancholic melodies and hard-hitting stabs, which is something I really enjoy combining. So, I decided to create it myself.

The feedback I received on this track has been overwhelmingly positive. “Black Sun” became one of my favorite tracks to drop during my sets, and it always got a great reaction. That’s when I knew I had to share it with the world.

Interviewer: Did it take long to produce, or did it come together easily? We’d love to hear what key tech you used in the making of Black Sun.

KASIA: I started working on Black Sun last March, and the final version came together just 5 months ago. If you check out some of my live videos, you’ll probably hear slightly different versions, as I kept tweaking and refining it after testing it in my sets.

The first version wasn’t as dark, but a few months ago, I revisited it in the studio and made some key changes. I modified the bassline, added more effects, and played around with automation to give the track more movement and depth. I used Serum for the synth layers, which really helped me achieve that sharp, melodic edge I was going for. I also layered in additional stabs to give it an extra punch.

One of my biggest focuses was automation, especially on the second drop. I wanted to keep the tension building all the way through to the end, and playing with sound manipulation and effects was key to balancing the melancholic melodies with the harder, more aggressive elements.

Interviewer: You were born in Poland, and you now live in Miami? That must be pretty different culturally. How did you find the shift from Europe to the US, and what is it about Miami that makes it home for you right now?

KASIA: Yes, I come from Poland. I was born and raised there, but I last lived in Poland about 14 years ago now. I’ve always travelled a lot. I’ve lived in seven different countries, including Italy, UK, Japan, China, the USA, and even Mexico, so adapting to new places has never been an issue for me.

I first moved to New York City about 9 years ago and spent quite a bit of time there. After that, I lived in Los Angeles for a few years, and now I’ve been in Miami for the past two years. I love it here—it’s warm year-round, very international, and a great hub for travel, which is important for me since I’m constantly on tour.

I’ve been living in the US for almost 8 years now, and while I call Miami home at the moment, I still travel a lot and spend my summers in Ibiza. Honestly, I’m barely home because I’m always on the road, but Miami’s been a great place to return to.

Interviewer: ADE is imminent! Do you have any plans in Amsterdam?

KASIA: Yes, right after finishing my Colombia tour, I’m heading on a two-month world tour. Amsterdam is one of the stops. I am flying to Amsterdam on Wednesday night for ADE. On Thursday, I’ll be playing for Armada and doing a special live guest mix for Armin van Buuren’s ASOT Radio Show.

In addition to the shows I’m excited about, I’ll meet with some of my dear friends, DJs and producers I usually see on the road while touring. I’ll fly out from Amsterdam on Friday for a show in Italy that weekend.

Interviewer: What else can we expect from KASIA for the rest of this year?

KASIA: I’m leaving now for a world tour. I will play at Terra Solis by Tomorrowland in Dubai, then the Netherlands for ADE, Italy, and then I will leave Europe. I’ll head up to Indonesia’s lovely Bali, Thailand for Bangkok and Phuket, Vietnam and China, then cross continents for Chile and Brazil, then back again in Europe for Greece and Hungary. I’ll finally return to Miami in November to play at Resistance.

I’m also working on a few exciting music projects and collaborations that I can’t wait to share with everyone. It’s going to be a busy and thrilling end to the year!
